The project “Arte e Identità nelle Terre di Mezzo: Le Nuove Tecnologie per la Conoscenza della Madonna dell’Itri di Nociglia” aims to recover and enhance the history of the Church of the Madonna dell'Itri in Nociglia using advanced Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies.
The objective is to make the knowledge of the building accessible and engaging, allowing the local community and tourists to explore the historical phases and the artistic and architectural evolution of the church, thanks to eXtended Reality (XR) technologies, developing Augmented Reality (AR) applications to explore the wall paintings and Virtual Reality (VR) applications to visualise the architectural transformations. 3D printing and NFC tags enable a tactile experience, making the site accessible to people with visual impairments. Users can interact with three-dimensional models, tactile panels with Braille descriptions and audio tracks. Each technology is complementary, helping to make the experience engaging and inclusive for a wide and diverse audience.
