angle-left The University of Salento strengthens scientific cooperation with Riga Technical University

A delegation from the University of Salento, led by Rector Maria Antonietta Aiello, visited Riga Technical University as part of an institutional mission aimed at strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between Italy and Latvia.

The visit provided an important opportunity to consolidate the dialogue between the two universities and to explore new forms of collaboration in strategic research areas, including biomedical research, civil engineering, innovation, technology transfer, and advanced digital technologies.

Professor Lucio Tommaso De Paolis, the Scientific Director of AVR Lab from the Department of Innovation Engineering at the University of Salento and Visiting Professor at Riga Technical University, also took part in the mission, contributing to the scientific exchange between the two institutions.

During the “Science Breakfast. Italian Edition” event, hosted by Riga Technical University, Rector Aiello presented UniSalento’s research activities and expertise in the field of civil engineering. Professor De Paolis presented recent applications of Extended Reality and Artificial Intelligence in the medical and healthcare fields, highlighting the contribution of the Lab to international research on innovative technologies for health, training, and well-being.

The mission represents a further step in UniSalento’s internationalization strategy and confirms the University’s commitment to promoting interdisciplinary cooperation, researcher mobility, and participation in European research and innovation networks.
