On March 23 2026, the Physical Medicine and Neuromotor Rehabilitation Unit of Santa Caterina Novella Hospital in Galatina will host a special event introducing Pepper, the social robot designed to support healthcare innovation.
Directed by Dr. Antonio Faita, the department will demonstrate how Pepper can assist rehabilitation through RoboMate, a CE Class I certified medical software that coordinates the robot’s functions and personalizes therapeutic activities according to each patient’s needs. The software was acquired thanks to funding from BCC Leverano.
The event will also include the participation of the AVR Lab (Augmented and Virtual Reality Laboratory) of the University of Salento. Our laboratory will be represented by Prof. Lucio Tommaso De Paolis, accompanied by AVR Lab researchers, highlighting the contribution of academic research to innovation in healthcare technologies.
The meeting, to be held in the hospital’s conference room, will bring together institutional leaders, healthcare professionals, and academic representatives to discuss the growing role of robotics in patient rehabilitation and care.
